Ilaitia Caginavanua
Security Advisor
Ilaitia has 25 years in Law Enforcement and joined the Secretariat in April 2025 as the Security Advisor to focus on the MSG Leaders’ commitment to strengthening regional security cooperation, particularly concerning the implementation of the Melanesian Spearhead Group Regional Security Strategy (RSS), and specifically on MSG Security Programs including Humanitarian Emergency Response Coordination Centre (HERCC), Responsibility to Protect (R2P) Initiatives, Regional Police Academy (RPA) and Police-Police Cooperation.
Ilaitia holds a Masters in International Relations and National Security from Curtin University in Australia and has served stints with the Australian Federal Police, and as a Pacific Advisor to the Pacific Islands Chiefs of Police based out of Wellington, New Zealand.
