The Political and Security Affairs (PSA) Programme is being managed by the industrious Mr Ilan Kiloe of the Solomon Islands.
PSAP is responsible for monitoring political and security developments in the region and at the same time provides appropriate advice on relevant issues to ensure a stable and peaceful Melanesia. Its work activities are developed in line with the “MSG 2038 Prosperity for All Plan” and the Corporate Plan 2016-2021 towards a shared vision of political stability, lasting peace and unity.
The programme was a re-creation and realignment of the original political mandate of the MSG Group. Previously, PSAP was a component under the Sustainable Development and Governance Programme (SDGP). Since its detachment from the SDGP the work programme delivery of the Secretariat has strengthened making political and security issues more visible and targeted.
Generally, the key strategic priorities of the PSAP are focused on delivering the following mandate of our Leaders.
Democratic processes supporting Elections;
- Membership Issues;
- Assistance to the FLNKS,
- Peace and Security; and
- Humanitarian and Emergency Response Coordination Centre
