On 9th October 2026 the Coral Triangle Initiative on Coral Reefs, Fisheries, and Food Security (CTI-CFF) Regional Secretariat, Executive Director – Dr. Frank Griffin paid a courtesy call on the Director General of the Melanesian Spearhead Group (MSG) Secretariat at its headquarters in Port Vila. The meeting focused on strengthening sub-regional cooperation in marine conservation, ocean governance, and sustainable blue economy strategies for shared Member countries. Currently MSG Members Papua New Guinea and Solomon Islands and Associate Member Indonesia and Observer Timor-Leste are part of Coral Triangle Initiative.
During the visit, both the shared the importance of aligning regional frameworks, discussed shared vision for resilient island communities. Both Secretariats agreed to maintain active dialogue and explore future joint initiatives in technical knowledge sharing and regional ocean stewardship.
