COUNCIL OF ARTS & CULTURE (CACM) MEETING
The Arts & Culture Programme is an important pillar in the establishment of the MSG. Under the Agreed Principles of Cooperation among Independent States in Melanesia that was signed in Port Vila on 14 March, 1988, amongst other things, the MSG commits to the principles of, and respect for and promotion of Melanesian cultures, traditions and values as well as those of other indigenous communities.
Strategic Priorities
The Arts & Culture Programme is therefore tasked with the following strategic priorities:
1. Convening of the 7th MSG Ministers of Culture and Arts Meetings and 9th MSG Culture and Arts Council meeting
2. Development of MSG Music Festival, TOR and Guiding document
3. Preparation toward the 7th MACFEST in Vanuatu, 2022;
4. Development of MSG Music Festival, TOR and Guiding document
5. Sharing of the Education Strategy and adjunct Fellow program;
6. Hosting the Inaugural MSG Arts and Culture Symposium
7. Supporting membership of MSG members to IFACCA
8. Ratification of the MSG Treaty on the protection of Traditional Knowledge and Expressions of Culture (TKEC)
9. Engaging youth and women in the protection and preservation through advocacy and awareness, documentation, capacity building initiatives, and sharing of Melanesian Culture and Arts
